Cytology is the study of individual cells, as opposed to histopathology which studies the whole tissue. The human body is made up of millions of cells which can be collected using specific techniques and then studied under a microscope to arrive at the most accurate diagnosis.

Cytology is widely used in medicine to prevent and diagnose diseases whether they involve carcinomas or not.

In our laboratory we perform cytology tests on a full range of materials, including, but not limited to, Pap tests, cavity fluids, urine cytology, thyroid, and salivary gland FNA, and cytology of samples derived from the lung.
